Despite the worst Greece boat disaster, the illegal migration from African shores to Italy did not stop as Libya security forces arrested dozens of illegal migrants including 34 Pakistanis in a fresh operation, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The detained illegal migrants of different nationalities were arrested when they were boarding boats to cross the sea, the media reports said.
Sources said that the arrested Pakistanis belonged to Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad districts.
The agents sent the youth to Libya on a visit visa a few days ago.
The Libyans Border Security Forces transferred all the migrants to prison.
Libya has been suffering insecurity and chaos since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, making the North African country a preferred point of departure for illegal migrants who want to cross the Mediterranean Sea to European shores.
In 2021, a total of 32,425 illegal migrants were rescued and returned to Libya, while 662 died and 891 others went missing off the Libyan coast on the Central Mediterranean route.
