Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai said on Tuesday that Salman Akram Raja’s reaction to Babar Awan’s meeting with jailed former prime minister Imran Khan showed the central leadership of the party has lost control over the party.

Speaking on a 24NewsHD TV programme, Yousafzai said there was a need to change the party’s in-house order. He said the party leadership should come to the front instead of making announcements. He said that he would ask PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and others to overcome deficiencies in the party. He said that an effective strategy should be made to free Imran Khan from Adiala Jail. He said that PTI is the largest political party and its leaders should avoid fighting against each other.

Earlier, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja registered his protest with the Adiala Jail administration at Gate No 5 for allowing Babar Awan to meet Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Raja told the jail administration that only selected people can meet Imran Khan. He said the Islamabad High Court has settled the issue therefore the jail administration should include the names of Azam Swati, Hamid Khan and Aziz Bhindari on the meeting list.

Salman Akram Raja demanded that names of Salman Safdar and Usman Gul should be included on behalf of Bushra Bibi. “You should remove Babar Awan's name from the list. We did not give that name,” Salman Akram Raja told the jail staff.

He told the jail staff, “If you sent Babar Awan, I will protest at the same place. If you stop him, we will go for a meeting,” Salman Akram Raja told the administration.

After stopping Babar Awan, Salman Akram Raja, Naeem Haider Panjhota, Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry and Niazullah Niazi left for the jail for a meeting.

Later, Babar Awan met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
