Punjab Assembly (PA) secretariat Monday issued a clearance for Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad Khan to take oath as an elected member of the House.
According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, Ch Nisar would take oath in the Punjab Assembly tomorrow.
PA Secretariat after verifying to the courts has given a clean chit to Ch Nisar to take oath as there is no stay-order against him but some petitions were under proceedings.
The PA Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti on Tuesday made a contact with Ch Nisar and informed him that he could take oath as an elected MPA in the Wednesday Session of the assembly on May 26. Bhatti told the media that they had checked thoroughly, though some cases were pending in the courts against Ch Nisar, there was no legal impediment to the swearing-in of him.
Yesterday, Ch Nisar visited Punjab Assembly secretariat to take oath but on some legal issues raised there, he turned back without owing swearing and joining the sitting session of the assembly.
Veteran politician and former interior minister Ch Nisar, who had won the provincial seat PP-10 from Rawalpindi in the 2018 general elections, has decided to take the oath of his office after emerging some legal issues about his absence from the House since last three year.
Ch Nisar has been advised to take the oath to his office before the introduction of electoral reforms being brought forward by the federal government.
According to these proposed reforms, if a returning candidate does not take an oath to his/her office within three months of the election, his/her seat will be considered vacant.
If these electoral reforms were approved then Ch Nisar and PML-N former finance minister Ishaq Dar may be deprived of their seats.
