Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Tuesday that the party rejected the formation of new boards by the government to regulate religious seminaries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media in Islamabad following chairing party’s Central Majlise Shura meeting, he said participants of the meeting had agreed on strengthening the Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia rather than becoming part of the boards. “None of us will ever become member of the boards the government wants to constitute,” he stated categorically.

He alleged all this was being done at the behest of the country’s establishment to please foreign powers.

Similarly, he voiced concern over ‘providing’ bases to the US troops. “This is particularly alarming given the US forces are pulling out of Afghanistan,” he added.

He said he had convened Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), opposition parties’ alliance, heads’ meeting on May 29th.

The JUI-F chief said important issues came under discussion at the meeting, and it was agreed that PDM should not only be revived but it should also be transformed into a mass movement.

Fazl said that JUI-F leaders would give their suggestions at the PDM huddle. “The present government, which has destroyed the country’s economy during the last three years, has been thrust upon us through ‘rigging’ in elections,” he alleged.

JUI-F chief said people were losing their lives in acts of terror in the country every day. “The feeling of insecurity is increasing, particularly in erstwhile FATA,” he said, and added, “It is evident that the government has failed to protect people’s lives, properties and honour.”

Fazl said JUI-F strongly rejected the law related to Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) because it was against the teachings of Quran and Sunnah of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). “Besides that it is also against the constitution of Pakistan,” he added.

He asked the government to better refer the law to the Islamic Ideology Council in order to elicit its opinion on it.
