The Pakistan Army has asked the government in Afghanistan to deny any space to the spoilers of the peace process, expressing the hope the Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa chaired the Corps Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The participants took a comprehensive review of the global, regional and domestic security environment with particular focus on the situation along borders especially LoC/working boundary and Pak-Afghan Border Forum was apprised on evolving operational imperatives and the corresponding strategy to meet the upcoming challenges.
The COAS expressed satisfaction over the Army’s operational readiness in view of the emerging security threats.

While reviewing recent developments in the Afghan peace process and its attendant effects on the security situation especially along the Pak-Afghan border, the forum reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for regional peace and stability.
Taking serious note of the recent cross-border firing incidents from Afghanistan and regrouping of terrorist leadership/outfits across the border, the forum expressed the hope that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against #Pakistan.
In light of the emerging regional security situation, Pakistan has taken effective border control/management measures, the same is expected from Afghanistan to deny any space to the spoilers of the peace, the forum reiterated.

The forum also especially reviewed the situation in the newly-merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and stressed upon the fast-paced socio-economic development of these areas to capitalize on the hard-earned peace to bring enduring stability.
The COAS appreciated the formations for all-out support to the civil administration amidst the ongoing third wave of COVID-19 that has contributed in bringing significant reduction in the spread of the pandemic and controlling its adverse effects.
COAS, US defence secy talk on phone
US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin and COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa talked on telephone and discussed regional dynamics and both the countries shared interest in security and stability in the region.
In a tweet, US Secretary of Defence said “Today I had the chance to speak with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. I reiterated my appreciation for the US-Pakistan relationship and my desire to continue to work together to further regional security and stability.”
According to the readout, “Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin spoke by phone with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss shared regional interests and objectives.”
“During the call, Secretary Austin reiterated his appreciation for Pakistan's support for Afghanistan peace negotiations and expressed his desire to continue to build on the US-Pakistan bilateral relationship,” the readout said.
