The government as well as the PTI have denied reports of striking any agreement about the long march, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet posted on Wednesday afternoon, Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb denied any news of the agreement. “No agreement was reached between the federal government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. News of negotiations and agreement between the government and PTI is baseless. No agreement has been reached with the armed group that martyred the police personnel,” she wrote.

Similarly, TV channels quoted senior PTI leader and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi as denying reports of any agreement between the two sides.

Earlier it was reported that the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had struck a “deal” under which the PTI will now only hold a public gathering and not long march in Islamabad. The report said the outcome was the result of hours-long talks between the two sides which started at 10:00 am and ended at 1:30.

The government side was represented by senior PPP leader and former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and former National Assembly speaker of PML-N Ayaz Sadiq while the PTI team was led by former planning minister Asad Umar and former defence minister Pervez Khattak.

Under the agreement, there will be no sit-in and the PTI will hold a public rally and then Imran Khan will leave.
