Jamshed Dasti, a popular politician and an elected Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has been booked in a case of inciting people to hold Azad Kashmir-style protest against government officers in Punjab on Saturday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, a case in Muzaffargarh's Saddar Police Station has been registered against Jamshed Dasti for inciting people to protest in Azad Kashmir-style and harassing the price control magistrate.
The police said the case was registered against Jamshed Dasti and 20 of his associates in the complaint of Price Control Magistrate Sanaullah Riaz.
According to the FIR, the price control magistrate imposed fines on wholesalers for selling expensive chicken and vegetables in Muradabad area of Muzaffargarh but Jamshed Dasti along with his colleagues reached the spot and tore the fine receipt.
The FIR said Jamshed Dasti interfered in the official work and incited people to Azad Kashmir-style protest against officers.
The Saddar police officials said the matter is being investigated and legal action is being taken.
