KP Budget 2024-25: Salary, pension up by 10pc

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Budget 2024-25 has been unveiled, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.


According to the document, the total volume of the budget is Rs1,754 billion – expenditures stand Rs1654 billion and the budget is Rs100 billion surplus.


A 10 per cent increase in the salary and pension of provincial employees has been proposed in the budget.



The provincial government is likely to receive more than Rs1,212 billion from the federal government.


The minimum monthly wage in the province has been proposed to be increased from Rs32,000 to Rs36,000. Air ambulance service will be launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Rs34 billion has been set aside for the health card project. According to the proposed bill, Rs26 billion will be spent on the salaries of hospital employees.


The provincial government allocated more than Rs10 billion for the purchase of medicines. More than Rs26 billion has been earmarked for wheat subsidy in the budget.


The province will spend Rs9 billion for providing free books to students and Rs3b for BRT subsidy.  The provincial government is likely to receive more than Rs1,212 billion from the federal government.


More than Rs33 billion will be received in terms of hydropower net profit. The provincial government will generate Rs93 billion from its own resources. In terms of taxation, the provincial government has set a target of Rs63 billion.


The KP government will receive more than Rs72 billion from the Centre for merged districts and the budget document showed it will get Rs55 billion from the federal government in the form of additional grants.


A development fund of Rs76 billion for the merged districts is likely to be received from the federal government. The provincial government will spend Rs246 billion on salaries and Rs162 billion on pensions. The government has a plan to provide 100,000 youth with jobs while it earmarked Rs3 billion for the Ehsaas programme.


According to the budget proposal, 5,000 thousand houses will be constructed and Rs10b allocated for the CRBC project. The KP government decided four major projects including Dir Motorway, DIK Motorway, Bannu Link Road.


A satellite center of Peshawar Institute of Cardiology will be established in the southern districts.


It set aside over Rs362 billion for education, more than Rs232 billion for health, over Rs140 billion for law and order, Rs 8b for social welfare, more than Rs 7 billion for industry, over Rs 9 for tourism, more than 28 billion rupees for agriculture and  31 billion rupees for energy sector in the budget.


The provincial government will establish the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Distribution Company and it planned  235MW hydro project too. The KP govt set aside more than 14 billion rupees h for forests and it will will launch the Billion Tree Plus project. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is expected to earn 111 billion 30 crores from hydropower.
