PTI protesters enter grid station in Peshawar, restore electricity by force

During a protest against load shedding in Peshawar on Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) local leaders and demonstrators forcibly entered the Kohat Road Grid Station and restored electricity of nine feeders.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, residents of the suburban area of Hazar Khwani staged a strong protest demonstration agaisnt prolonged load shedding outside the Kohat Raod Grid Station.




The protesters claimed that the load shedding of electricity was up to 16 hours of outages in their areas.
Additionally, there was another protest outside the Peshawar Ring Road Grid Station.
Local police said this protest was called by PTI backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) member of the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (MPA) Fazal Elahi.



The police said that some protestors entered the grid station and restored the power after giving assurance of non-violence to the grid station administration and the police.
A spokesperson from Peshawar Electircity Supply Company (PESCO) stated that the line losses at Hazar Khwani and Kohat Road Grid Station are at 80 percent which was the reason of heavy load shedding in the area.
The PESCO spokesperson also said that demonstrators forcibly restored power to nine feeders.
