Claiming that the country’s loans had increased by 70 per cent during the last three years since the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government came to power, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal said on Thursday that the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) report was reflective of the government’s poor economic performance, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference at Model Town, Lahore, he said it was unfortunate that the government had started completely relying on loans. “It appears that under the present government the country’s economy is for ‘sale’,” he said and claimed that the country, which was progressing under the PML-N government, had now been turned into ruins.

PML-N leader warned that if the interest rate would be doubled, the country’s loans would also be doubled. “The amount of loan each Pakistani owes today has increased by Rs91, 000 since 2018,” he said, and added, “The amount, which stood at Rs144, 000 in 2018, has now jumped to Rs235, 000.”
