In a strategic move to enhance urban development and historical preservation, the Walled City of Lahore Authority's jurisdiction has been substantially expanded across the entirety of Punjab, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The new name of the authority will be the "Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority”, said Director General Kamran Lashari while talking to the media here on Friday.
He said the newly established authority is tasked with ensuring the effective preservation of Punjab's walled cities and historical sites.
“The newly established authority, mandated by a comprehensive legal framework, is set to provide specialized administration for securing and enhancing the vibrancy of the entire Punjab,” he added.
The Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs has issued a formal notification in this regard.
The ordinance officially christened the authority as the "Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority," consolidating its role in safeguarding heritage properties.
He highlighted the authority's mission to implement a series of measures aimed at ensuring the safety and enhancement of these invaluable historical and cultural assets.
