Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in Islamabad on Monday for his three-day official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The visiting dignitaries received a warm welcome as he landed at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz with Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials received him.
Children dressed in traditional attire presented him with bouquets.
President Lukashenko will hold extensive talks with PM Shehbaz on bilateral cooperation and engagement and other matters of mutual interest. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) will also be signed during the visit.
The Belarusian President’s visit reflects a strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
Meanwhile PM Shehbaz Sharif in his post on X said Pakistan and Belarus enjoy strong fraternal relations.
“We will work together to further strengthen these ties,” the premier tweeted.
“Delighted to welcome my dear friend Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus to Islamabad. Looking forward to our discussions during this important visit,” he added.
A 68-member ministerial delegation from Belarus arrived in Islamabad yesterday. The visit comes after Pakistan and Belarus in September agreed in principle to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a trade roadmap for 2025-2027.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Additional Foreign Secretary Europe Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan received the visitors, FO said in a press release.
In his meeting with FM Ryzhenkov, Naqvi termed President Lukashenko’s visit crucial in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Belarus.
The interior minister stressed Pakistan greatly values its relations with Belarus and aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors. He highlighted that the visit would further promote cooperation between the two countries in industry, trade and other sectors.
