A policeman was killed in clashes with the protesting supporters of the Pakistan Tehrek-i-Insaf (PTI).

According to the initial reports, jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s supporters allegedly stormed a police station and then attacked the policemen. As a result, a constable of the Punjab Police, Mubashir was injured critically as he had received a head injury. He was taken to the hospital for treatment where he was kept in the intensive care unit. Mubashir, who passed away later, has been survived by two daughters and a son. He is a resident of Muzaffargarh.

At least 70 other policemen were also injured in the clash. They received injuries to their legs, arms and heads.

Police are now trying to locate the PTI supporters involved in the clash through CCTV cameras.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that the PTI is planning to stage May 9-like violent protests in the country. She said that PTI supporters clashed with "unarmed" policemen performing security duties during the protest.

The PTI supporters are rallying towards the federal capital on the call of their jailed party founder Imran Khan to gather at D-Chowk in the capital and stay there until their demands are met. The release of jailed ex-premier among other issues is what the party seeks.

"They want May 9 Part-II," said the provincial minister addressing a hurriedly-called presser in Lahore on Monday.
