Baraat' is a celebratory procession for the groom when goes to the bride's house to get married. This custom involves live music and dancing, symbolizing the excitement and joy of embarking on a new life journey together.
While marriages are a celebration, the narrative totally changes when the couples separate or divorce. In our society, divorce is still treated as a taboo.
However, recently, this norm was challenged when a man in Jharkhand, India turned the concept of 'baraat' on its head and organised the celebratory procession to welcome his daughter back from her in-laws after she alleged she was being tortured there and filed for divorce.
In a powerful act of support, the father emphasised the importance of treating his daughter with dignity and respect, especially when her in-laws had acted unjustly.
