Terrorists launched a late-night attack on Baka Khel Police Station in Bannu City of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and injured a policeman in the firing.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, police forces responded promptly, successfully repelling the attack and forcing the terrorists to flee from the area.
Station House Officer (SHO) of the Baka Khel Police Station, Fayaz Khan, informed the media that the injured officer was shot in the chest and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), Bannu.
Yesterday, nine terrorists, including a high-value target and two would-be suicide bombers, were killed by the security forces in a fierce gunbattle fought in Bajaur District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR on Thursday, after receiving information about the presence of Khawarij, the security forces launched the intelligence-based operation in Bajaur between the nights of October 23 and 24.
Nine Khawarij were killed in the intense exchange of fire with the security forces. High-value target, ringleader Syed Muhammad alias Qureshi Ustad, and two trained would-be bombers were among the slain terrorists.
A large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the slain Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians.
A sanitisation operation was carried out to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country, said the ISPR statement.
