Prime Minister Imran khan launched Kisan Cards for farmers in Multan Monday and said that technology enabled cards will decrease corruption, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Imran Khan said he has decided to supervise the agriculture sector.
“I am happy with the launch of the ‘Kisan Card’ step for modern agriculture and it will transform Pakistan as farmers are the backbone of the economy. The more you step towards the technology, there will be less corruption,” Imran Khan said.
“I personally talked to the Chinese and included agriculture in the CPEC to inculcate this sector growth,” he added. Imran Khan said the government is also revamping research institutions in the country.
“The government could also give loan to farmers via Kisan Card and currently we have increased Rs1000 DAP subsidy on these cards.”
The government has allocated two billion rupees for repairing canals that will save the water in future, he added.
“In our tenure, farmers got additional Rs1100 billion in the form of wheat support price and increased prices of milk and other commodities. The private sector is also being introduced at union council to include latest trade practices,” he said.
Imran Khan also praised Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for the Kisan Card initiative.
Punjab CM Usman Buzdar said that government subsidies to small farmers were often landed in the wrong hands and today we are launching ‘Kisan Card’ through which not only farmers will get direct subsidy but also, the government will have the data of all farmers.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in Multan on a day-long visit to inaugurate various public welfare and development projects.
During the daylong visit, Imran Khan distributed Kisan Cards among farmers. The Prime Minister also inaugurated public welfare projects including E-Khidmat Center, Labour Housing Colony Industrial Estate Phase-I and a new building of Shelter Home.
Imran Khan also launched five Miyawaki forests under the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign and the project of rehabilitation of Multan-Mattital road.
The Prime Minister will also perform groundbreaking of a Panahgah in Multan under the project of construction of Panahgahs in all divisional headquarters of Punjab Phase-I, 200-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Ghalla Godam Multan, and 10 water filtration plants in Multan.
Imran Khan will also inaugurate the foundation stone of the South Punjab Secretariat.
