The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the federal government and other respondents in order to seek their replies to the petition filed by a transgender person, seeking a ban on the release of a movie, Dum Mastam, until and unless all ‘objectionable’ dialogues in it against the community were removed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Shahid Waheed of the LHC heard the Petition filed by Zanaya Chaudhry through Barrister Muhammad Ahmed Pansota.
In his arguments, the barrister said that there were some ‘demeaning’ and ‘insulting’ words and dialogues in the film against members of the transgender community.
“These dialogues have injured the feelings of these people,” he said, and prayed to the court to ban release of the movie until and unless these dialogues and words were removed.
