The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi visited the area of Atari Okara affected by the flood in the Sutlej River on Friday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Punjab CM Naqvi met with the victims and reviewed the arrangements made for their relief.
The Chief Minister ordered that the best facilities be provided for the flood victims.
On this occasion, the Secretary of the Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer gave a briefing on the situation of the flood and rescue operation.
The CM was briefed that 87,754 people have been evacuated, 1,48,594 people have been transported, and 13,808 animals have been moved to safe places across Punjab. Rescue 1122 is providing emergency services in flooded areas across Punjab with 425 rescue boats and 1660 rescuers.
On the other hand, flood victims in the Luddon areas have complained that the district administration is playing the role of a silent spectator while the merciless waves of flood have submerged many residential areas and hundreds of acres of agricultural land.
The victims said locals are trying to relocate by themselves, carrying their goods and animals from the water while many are sitting in the hot sun, unable to eat or drink as water is all around them.
The flood victims have appealed to the administration to facilitate them immediately as the situation remains critical and further assistance is needed to help those affected by the flood.
They also complained that the administration has built a tent settlement 15 km away which is not accessible for locals.
