The Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested eight terrorists including two important commanders of the proscribed religious outfit Al-Qaeda during intelligence-based operations conducted in different parts of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the spokesperson, the CTD carried out various intelligence-based operations in different cities of Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Multan to thwart subversive activities of the militants in these places.
The spokesperson said that the CTD force arrested eight terrorists including two key commanders of Al-Qaeda.
The Al-Qaeda commanders identified as Kashan and Hassan were arrested during the Lahore operation.
Other militants were identified as Liaquat, Gul Karim, Ayub Khan, Amir Muavia and Rizwan.
Police recovered explosive material, hand grenades, detonators, mobile phones, armed weapons and cash from their possession.
The spokesperson said that after registering cases against them, the CTD has started interrogating them.
