Motorway sections from Faizpur to Rajana (M-3), from Tokhar to Kot Sarwar (M-2), from Lahore to Sialkot (M-11), and Pindi Bhatian to Abdul Hakeem Interchange have been closed due to dense fog and poor visibility on Monday evening, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
According to the Motorway Police Spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad, the motorway sections will remain closed from 9 pm on Monday to 8 am on Tuesday as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the road users.
He said that the visibility on the motorway sections were reduced to less than 50 meters at some places due to the fog.
The Motorway police spokesperson said that motorway users must use front and rear fog lights and seat belts while driving. He urged the motorists to avoid unnecessary travel on the motorways.
“The road users should avoid speeding and keep a proper distance from other vehicles,” he added.
He also said that the motorway police were patrolling the motorway and helping the stranded vehicles.
The motorway police spokesperson also advised road users to contact helpline 130 for information and assistance as well as they can also get information from the Motorway Police Humsafar app.
The spokesperson said that the motorway was partially blocked due to the fog and the traffic was diverted to alternative routes.
He urged the motorists to follow the traffic rules and the instructions of the motorway police to avoid any mishap.
