The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Tuesday rang alarm over possibility of storms and heavy rains in Punjab from Thursday to Saturday.
Citing the Met Office forecast, the NDMA wrote to the Punjab Disaster Manage Authority and other departments to adopt precautionary measures to avert the loss of life and property.
The authority said: “A westerly weather system is likely to enter upper parts of the country Thursday evening and likely to persist till Saturday.
“Wind/thunderstorm with rain (hailstorm) is expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Sialkot on Friday and Saturday.
“Rain with dust raising winds/dust storm is also likely in DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar on Friday.
“It is requested that all the concerned may take necessary precautionary measures in vulnerable areas to avoid any loss of life and damage to public as well as private property.”
