Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Farooqi has been elected to Sindh Assembly on a reserved seat for women.
The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday issued the notification in this regard.
The seat was vacated after murder of PPP leader Shahnaz Ansari. She was shot dead in Nowshehro Feroz on February 15, 2020.
According to police, Shahnaz Ansari was killed in connection with a land dispute. The attackers opened indiscriminate firing on her. She received three bullets and was shifted to a hospital in Nawabshah but succumbed to here injuries during the treatment.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded immediate arrest of the attackers. He called for an urgent probe into the murder.
