Karachi Kings beat Multan Sultans by 66 runs in the 14th match of the eighth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Karachi bowlers Tabraiz Shamsi, Shoaib Malik, Akif Javed, and Imad Waseem ran through the Sultans.
Multan Sultan’s captain Rizwan and other opener Shan Masood could offer some resistance to Karachi’s spinner trio as they made 29 and 25 respectively in a total of 101 in 16.3 overs.
Karachi Kings had set a 168-run target for Multan Sultans.
The match was played in Karachi cricket stadium. The home side has posted 167-3 in the allotted 20 overs.
Opener James Vince scored 27 runs in 12 balls before being sent back to the pavilion by Anwar Ali.
Matthew Wade and Tayyab Tahir stitched an impressive hundred partnership, 109 runs in 83 balls, for the second wicket.
Both, Tahir and Wade, were cleaned up by the tournament’s leading wicket-taker Ihsanullah but not before scoring 65 runs in 46 balls and 46 runs in 47 balls, respectively.
Earlier, Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl first against Karachi Kings.
It is to be noted here that Multan Sultans have played six matches so far and won four of them. This was their sixth match.
They had been defeated by one run in their match against Lahore Qalandars before the current match.
Karachi Kings, on the other hand, have also played six matches so far and won two matches including today’s match.
On the points table, Multan Sultans ranked first with eight points while Karachi Kings rank fifth with four points.
