Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s track record of ‘hurling abuses at judiciary is quite grim’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a tweet on Saturday, he said that it was simply outrageous to see him lecturing others on showing respect for judiciary.
In a tweet on Saturday, the PML-N reminded the PTI chief the threats he had hurled at the female judge for denying bail to one of his party leaders Shahbaz Gill and hanging of shalwars outside the Supreme Court (SC) building by the PTI workers during the party’s sit-in at Islamabad’s Red Zone in 2014.
On Saturday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz Sharif indulged in a spat on Twitter.
Imran Khan labelled Ms Sharif a ‘spoilt brat’ as he called out her ‘anti-judiciary tirade’. The PML-N leader, in response, accused the PTI chief of surviving with the help of the ‘Godfather’.
Four days ago, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had alleged that Supreme Court judges Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi were “biased” against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and party’s legal team will soon approach these two justices to recuse themselves from cases involving PML-N leader.
In a statement, Rana Sanaullah said Justice Ahsan was the supervising judge in the case against PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and "justice was not expected from him".
The minister also put a question-mark over the impartiality of Justice Naqvi, claiming that irrefutable evidence had emerged in the audio leaks case that the apex court judge was hearing.
