Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi Sunday announced that Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 season 8 matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi will be played as per schedule.
Sethi expressed his gratitude to Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi for being “kind enough to agree to share cost of lighting routes during PSL matches in Lahore”.
Taking to Twitter, Sethi shared that "Good news: CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi Saheb has been kind enough to agree to share cost of lighting routes during PSL matches in Lahore. PSL8 matches in Lahore and Pindi shall continue as scheduled," he tweeted.
The Punjab government and PCB had remained locked in negotiations over security arrangements for the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi with the former demanding Rs450 million for security.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister, also the patron of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shehbaz Sharif assured 'full support' after deadlock between PCB and Punjab government continued.
PCB management committee chairman Najam Sethi approached PM Shehbaz over the matter of hosting PSL matches in Punjab as per schedule.
In his conversation with PM Shehbaz, Sethi reiterated that the PCB won’t pay the additional cost for security arrangements. It must be noted that the PCB and the PSL franchises unanimously decided Friday not to pay an additional cost of Rs450m to the Punjab government.
