The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following forecasts predicting rain, thunderstorms, hails and snowfall in the province from tonight (Feb 25) until Feb 27.
According to PDMA, the weather system is expected to bring rain, snowfall, and isolated hailstorms to several districts including Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Buner, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Karak, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, DI Khan, and Waziristan, with occasional breaks.
PDMA has expressed concerns over potential landslides, road closures, and damage to structures such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels during this weather period. Travelers on highways in sensitive areas are advised to exercise caution and take necessary safety precautions, as per PDMA's advisory.
