PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has brokered a “ceasefire” among different party factions in Jhelum and Sargodha, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The leaders of the different PML-N factions have agreed to bury the hatched and wholeheartedly support the party candidates in their respective constituencies.
It is pertinent to mention that PML-N splinter groups were contesting elections against each other in key constituencies of the two cities.
In Sargodha, PML-N former MNA Hamid Hameed was contesting election against party-nominated candidate Dr Liaquat while in Jehlum party’s former parliamentarians Raja Matloob Mehdi and Talib Mehdi were contesting elections against PML-N-nominated Ch Farrukh Altaf.
Shehbaz Sharif held special meeting with Hamid Hameed and convinced him to step down for party leader Dr Liaquat. Hamid Hameed has obliged and declared his support for Liaqat Bhatti.
Likewise on the request of Shehbaz Sharif Raja Matloob Mehdi and Talib Mehdi announced unconditional support for Ch Farrukh Altaf in Jhelum. Shehbaz Sharif praised leaders for accepting the party directives.
