After a long dry spell, Neelum Valley on Friday morning received snowfall and rain; however, dense fog gripped Punjab cities including Lahore creating difficulties for commuters, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Spokesman of Motorway police said that amid poor visibility in order to ensure the safety of passengers, motorways remained shut at various sections between Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian and Lahore to Farooqabad. Road users are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
Slow snowfall and rain is reported at Neelum Valley’s headquarters Ath Muqam, Gajran and Shunthar areas.
According to Met Office, the spell of rain and snow will continue sporadically till evening in the valley.
The experts forecast severe cold due to continuous low daytime temperatures in fog-blanket areas. People have been advised to be cautious. According to the Met department, the weather will remain cold and dry in Islamabad, while Murree, Galiyat and adjacent areas will experience very cold and cloudy weather.
