Referring to the opposition parties namely Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party, which rejected the results of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections held yesterday (Sunday), Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Monday prophesied that those bent upon making the elections controversial would do the same after 2023 general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he asked those foreigners whose visas had expired either to get their visas renewed or simply leave the country by August 14th. “We will evict all those who had managed to obtain fake identity cards during the last seven years,” Rasheed warned.

He announced that the government was going to declare 840 blocked identity cards as ‘fake’. “The government has terminated the services of 39 NADRA officers for issuing fake identity cards to the foreigners,” he informed.

On the murder case of Noor Mukadam, daughter of former Pakistan’s envoy, he said that the names of the suspect and his father had been put on the blacklist, adding that their names would be put on the Exit Control List this week.

The interior minister was of the view that public gatherings were no criterion to judge the popularity of a certain political party. “These gatherings, no matter how much large, are not a guarantee of a party’s success in elections,” he opined.

He said he was glad that his prediction about the PTI’s victory in the AJK elections proved true. “The seats won by the PPP were special. The party fared much better in the elections,” Rasheed said.

He said that now the PTI was going to form its government in the state, and added that it would be party’s endeavor to form its government in Sindh as well after next general elections.

He asked the former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan and face the cases made against him. “Nawaz Sharif, come back. We will even send a chartered plane to bring you back to Pakistan,” the minister said while addressing the PML-N supremo.

He further said that the former prime minister’s only agenda was to vilify the Pakistani establishment, Army and Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Nawaz crossed all limits in his meetings with RAW agents,” the minister said, and added, “He is weakening Pakistan’s case at FATF.”

He said he wished corrupt people could be hanged to death.

He further said that the government would send 46 personnel of the Afghan Army who had taken shelter in Pakistan back to their country with honour and dignity.

Rasheed announced to wage a Jihad against narcotics smugglers after August 14th
