The Congress-led newly named opposition, “Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance” (INDIA) is likely to bring in the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and force him to speak on the Manipur issue.

The no-confidence motion will be moved in the lower house of the parliament which is the Lok Sabha during the ongoing monsoon.

The NDA-led government is planning to bring in various important bills in the House and is aiming to give the much-needed legislative push.

A proposal to submit the notice was discussed at a meeting of the constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) on Tuesday morning.

The sources said after weighing various options to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak in Parliament on the situation in strife-torn Manipur, it was decided that this would be an effective way to compel the government to initiate a discussion on the issue.

In the past, it was in 2003, that the Congress-led opposition had brought about the no-confidence motion against Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government. The NDA-led government by PM Vajpayee was able to defeat the motion, thereby making it the first non-Congress-led government to complete the full term.
