The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday approached the Supreme Court (SC) to seek clarification of para 10 of the latter’s verdict in the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) verdict, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources told 24News TV channel that the election commission had approached the apex court to receive its guidance.

They said that the commission was of the view that the PTI was not an ‘entity’, and when intra-party elections were not held, who was the authority to issue the certificates?

Sources further said that intra-party elections of the PTI had not been held so far, and the party did not have a structure.

Sources disclosed that a consensus existed in the ECP on approaching the SC for the removal of ambiguity.

They informed that the last date for the submission of party’s certificate was August 6.

Sources told 24News that the commission would decide on de-notifying 77 members who had reached the assemblies on reserved seats.
