Hamid Khan and Asad Qaiser raise objections to Zartaj Gul's lists before Shibli Faraz: Senior leaders decide to raise issue of ignoring long-standing workers on lists with Imran Khan in jail
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership finds itself divided into two groups, led by Hamid Khan and Zartaj Gul, over the allocation of reserved seats for women in assemblies.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the dispute arose from allegations that the selection process favoured certain individuals involved in the May 9 incident, sidelining long-standing party workers.
Senior PTI leaders, including Hamid Khan and Asad Qaiser, have expressed reservations about the women's wing's handling of the reserved seats for Shibli Faraz. However, Shibli Faraz did not respond to Hamid Khan's objections, the sources said.
The senior leaders argued that basing the selection solely on the May 9 events is inappropriate and has alienated long-time party workers.
They said the women's wing included only those highlighted in the May 9 events and ignored recommendations from the central leaders.
The PTI senior leadership said names suggested by the central leadership were rejected, and nominations were made on the recommendations of Zartaj Gul, Dr Yasmin Rashid, and Kanwal Shauzab.
The party sources said senior members are considering raising this issue with Imran Khan in jail.
The list of nominees for the reserved seats is set to be presented to the party founder at Adiala Jail today (Thursday), and after final approval, the list will be submitted to the Election Commission.
