The PTI government, which failed miserably to fix the petrol pumps and oil marketing companies responsible for an artificial shortage of fuel after a cut in prices a couple of months ago, on Friday approved a generous increase in the prices apparently to appease the oil mafia.
According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the petrol price hit Rs100.10 per litre after an increase of Rs25.52. With an increase of Rs21.31 per litre, the new price of high speed diesel reached Rs101.46 per litre. The price of kerosene oil increased by Rs23.50 to Rs59.6 per litre. With an increase of Rs17.84 per litre, the new price of light diesel reached Rs55.98 per litre.
The decision left the pandemic-hit people fuming and many of them took to Twitter to vent their anger on the PTI rulers who always claimed about fighting and defeating the mafias.
Twitter user Phenomenal Adnan Malik came up with the most sarcastic comment of the day. “Good News!! The Petrol will now be available on all pumps... #PetrolPrice,” he wrote.
Hassan Sheikh put up a question to PTI supporters in the following words: “PTI supporters, is this change enough or you can tolerate more? Petrol price increased by 26Rs in emergency when it's prices are down in the whole world. #PetrolPrice”

Wajahat Kazmi asked, “#PetrolPrice in Pakistan increased by Rs 25. The new price is Rs 100 for a liter from tonight. Is this how the govt had planned to deal with the mafia? By making them happy?”
