Role of NAP in provinces will be restored: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said the role of the provinces in the National Action Plan (NAP), which did not exist in the last four years, will be restored, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

An important meeting on law and order was held in Lahore under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which the PM said that ignoring the role of the provinces in the National Action Plan has increased terrorism in the last four years.

In the meeting PM Shehbaz discussed that all possible measures must be taken to protect the life and property of people, adding that the government’s goal is to serve the people.

The Prime Minister was informed of the latest public order situation in the country. The law and order situation in the Punjab province was also discussed at the meeting.

PM Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his concern about the increase in street crime.

PM has asked to ensure the public safety adding that the public opinion about the police and law enforcement agencies can only be change merely through deliverance.

PM has been informed about the eradication of terrorism and the threats it poses in this regard. The measures to curb the financing of terrorism and the implication on laws were also reviewed.

PM Shehbaz Sharif has praised law enforcement agencies for meeting FATF conditions.

PM Shehbaz went on to say that the entire nation has agreed to a declaration against terrorism and stand behind its armed forces and law enforcement agencies, adding that the country will continue its fight until the complete eradication of terrorism and will not compromise the security and defense of Pakistan.

PM said ensuring law and order is a key requirement for recovery and development of Pakistan's economy.

The meeting has been attended by the Chief Minister of Punjab Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, IG and the Chief Secretary, among others.
