The sacrificial animals are being vaccinated in Gujranwala by the Livestock Department officials to prevent lumpy virus spread in them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
It is learnt that a large number of sacrificial animals are being brought to the animal markets of Gujranwala where the Livestock Department officials are administering them vaccine against the lumpy virus so that they could avoid the disease.
Khyber District
In Khyber district, the sellers at cattle markets are upset due to the low number of people coming to purchase the animals.
It is learnt that dozens of animals have fallen victim to lumpy virus which has sent a wave of fear among people, keeping them from buying the animals.
Sindh province
It is to be noted here that hundreds of cattle heads have fallen victim to lumpy virus in Sindh province.
The Sindh Livestock Department has taken some stringent measures to curb the disease by launching vaccination of the animals on a large scale.
Nevertheless, the spread of the virus is yet to be fully contained as the cases of the disease continue to rise across Sindh, including Hyderabad.
The number of animals infected with Lumpy virus in Sindh has reached 53,539, according to the Livestock Department.
At least 571 cattle heads have died for being infected with lumpy virus.
The highest number of cases was reported in Karachi, where the number rose to 20,961, said the Livestock Department.
At least 3,305 cattle heads in the province are currently infected with the virus, whereas, as many as 49,663 cattle heads have been recovered from the virus in the province.
Furthermore, over 2.9 million cattle heads have been vaccinated against lumpy virus, the Livestock Department stated.
