At least 11 people were killed and six injured in seven separate incidents after being struck by lightning in Narowal and Sheikhupra districts, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
The incidents occurred after heavy rain coupled with a powerful thunderstorm pummelled the province on Sunday.
The lightning strikes were reported in Pasrur, Sheikhupura, Shakargarh tehsil, and in the neighborhoods of Narowal.
The rescue teams shifted the injured and moved the bodies to the local hospitals.
According to the rescue officials, a lightning incident occurred in Mauza Ratanpur of Changowali village, Narowal district, in which four people died and four other persons were injured including two children. They were shifted to a nearby public sector hospital where the condition of one victim is said critical.
In another incident of lightning that struck at Bhagatpura of Pasrur tehsil in which a youth identified as Hafiz Waqar aged 14 died on the spot. Her mother and aunt have also suffered injuries.
The two people were found dead in the suburban area of Pasrur. The deceased were identified as 32-year-old Muhammad Mahmoud Ansari son of Muhammad Ramadan, and 30-year-old Shabir son of Mubarak Ali.
The police sources said that they were planting rice paddy in the fields of village Bhalrohi Wala when heavy rain followed by strong wind gusts, light struck and they died on the spot.
In a separate incident in Pasrur, a youth namely Kashif Ali aged 17 became the prey of lightning when he was working in the fields.
A man at Lahore Road, Narowal became the victim of lightning during a powerful thunderstorm.
Two people were killed when a flash of lightning struck at Hafizabad Road Chak Shahpur in Sheikhupura district.
At least six people were sitting in a graveyard when lightning suddenly struck. One person was killed on the spot while another died in the DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura where he was treated. Earlier, the rescue team of Rescue 1122 shifted him to the hospital.
The deceased persons were identified as Muhammad Atif son of Muhammad Aslam aged 37 years and Muhammad Shafiq son of Muhammad Latif aged 45 years.
In yet another incident, a man was injured after being struck by lightning at Ban Bajwa, near Pasrur tehsil.
The lightning-caused panic among the locals.
