The worst load shedding of more than eight hours in a day in Lahore city is the reason for the LESCO's illegal transfer of electricity share of general consumers to the Punjab Assembly.
This is disclosed by the 24News HD TV channel in a report on Sunday. the channel reported that the worst load shedding of electricity in Lahore city and prolonged outages due to technical faults made life miserable for consumers.
As per the report, due to load management and technical faults, more than 270 transformers of Wapda have become out of order in the last three to four days and the duration of power outages in different areas went up to eight hours.
On the other hand, LESCO Chief Shahid Haider said that they have received only two reports of burning the transformers in the city.
Anyhow, the sources said that the demand for LESCO is up to 5000 MW while the supply is 4600 MW so there is a shortfall of 400 MW and load shedding is being done in different areas to cover this shortfall.
On the other hand, for the project of supplying electricity to the Punjab Assembly from other sources, LESCO, contrary to the policy, shut down the electricity for eight hours in extreme heat due to which the consumers faced difficulties.

LESCO Chief Shahid Haider along with Chairman Board of Directors Hafiz Mian Nauman held a press conference at the LESCO South Circle office in Lahore on Sunday.
Nauman said that due to the intensity of heat, there has been an additional load of 1600 MW of electricity on the system but they are shutting down the electricity Fedders as per plan of the federal government.
Hafiz Mian Nauman said efforts are being made to provide electricity to consumers by replacing the burning transformers in time.
He said that 200 burnt transformers have already been replaced and they have stopped the electricity supply to all development projects to meet the need of the city in hot weather.
He said that at present the system is facing a shortfall of up to 1000 MW.
