The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) decided to convene a jirga in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on ‘Operation Azm-e-Istehkam’, sources said on Tuesday.
They added the jirga with tribal chieftains and elders from across KP would be held in Peshawar on June 26.
The insiders said the party leadership decided to convene the jirga during a meeting yesterday.
The PTI came under fire for ‘giving the go-ahead’ to the military operation and failure to deliver in KP.
ANP provincial president Iftikhar said the PTI leaders had nothing to do with public service rather they were concerned about the release of the party founder Imran Khan.
The ANP leader said the party has reservations about the military operation.
Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Fazlur Reham too opposed the operation. He said such operations caused destabilizations.
According to PTI sources, the PTI will present an operation-related resolution in the jirga, and in line with the jirga recommendation, the PTI will take up the matter at the provincial and national assemblies, they added.
Also, the parliamentary party of PTI and Sunni Ittehad Council in the National Assembly met and decided to register their protest over the alleged election manipulation.
A total of 172 members participated in the meeting chaired by opposition leader Omar Ayub.
Rehana Dar, Seemabiya Tahir and party candidates from across the country participated in the meeting
