Voting is underway at four polling stations of PB-9, Kohlu (Balochistan) as part of a re-poll in the constituency, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to sources in Levies, voters have started trickling into the polling stations.
While PML-N candidate Nawab Changez Marri’s polling agent reached one of the polling stations, PPP candidate Mir Naseebullah Marri’s agent did not arrive till last reports came in.
The administration imposed section 144 in the entire district prior to the start of polling in order to prevent the assemblage of people.
Similarly, there is a complete ban on the display of weapons while strict security arrangements have been made in and around the polling stations as heavy contingents of the police, Levies, FC, have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
The Supreme Court had on April 23, 2024 allowed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections in four polling stations of PB-9 Kohlu, Balochistan.
A three-judge bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan and comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, gave the decision on an appeal filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Nawab Changez Marri against the ECP’s order to hold re-poll in four polling stations of PB-9.
Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Mir Naseebullah Marri had challenged the victory of the PML-N candidate.
