FM dubs meeting cordial: Punjab Assembly speaker says drop scene of political drama yet to come: Assures characters will be changed: Says political rallies will have no effect on no-confidence motion

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak held a meeting with Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi and other PML-Q leaders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The meeting was held on Saturday at the residence of Pervaiz Elahi. The Punjab assembly speaker and Minister for Water Resources Moonis Elahi welcomed the government delegation. The government team delivered an important message of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the PML-Q leadership. 

They discussed current political situation and exchanged views on opposition’s no-confidence motion against prime minister. 

Besides Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi, the meeting was also attended by Housing Minister Tariq Bashir and other party leaders. 

Cheema apprised the government delegation of the problems being faced by the party during last three and a half years and spoke openly about their solutions. He rued that the PML-Q had never been consulted on any issue by the government. 

The government team assured the PML-Q leadership that Prime Minister Khan would be made aware of his ally’s reservations. 

Ch Pervaiz said that the party would take President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain into confidence regarding today’s meeting, adding that the next meeting would be held in Islamabad soon.

After the meeting, while talking to media, Foreign Minister Qureshi touted that his meeting with Ch Pervaiz remained very cordial. “I am not disappointed at all. Allah has never returned me emptyhanded,” he said cheerfully.

Meanwhile, talking to media, Pervaiz Elahi said that the drop scene of the political drama would not come any time soon. ‘The characters of the drama will be changed. The broth is ready. Half of the broth has been distributed and half remains to be distributed,” 

He remarked that those who were bringing Islam in politics, they did not have any future. “By the grace of God, our future is bright,” he added. 

He said those who were sitting abroad, the medicine which could cure their illness had not yet come.

Taking dig at current culture of holding rallies and public meetings, Pervaiz Elahi said that politics of rallies would have no effect on the no-confidence motion.
