155 drivers arrested for reckless driving on Motorway

After directives from Inspector General (IG) of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Riffat Mukhtar Raja, Central Region launched a campaign and arrested 155 drivers after registering first information reports (FIRs) against them for overspeeding, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

A spokesman of Motorway police said, 62 FIRs were lodged against drivers on M-5 Multan-Sukkhar Motorway for violation of speed limit.

The statistics further showed that 22 FIRs were registered against drivers on M-4 Pindi Bhatian-Multan Motorway while 39 FIRs filed against drivers for over-speeding on M-2 Lahore to Islamabad Motorway.

Motorway Police registered 16 FIRs against drivers for violation of traffic speed limit at M-3 Lahore-Multan Motorway and 16 more FIRs were filed against driver on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway for over-speeding.

The spokesman said that after instructions from IG Motorway, sector commanders are monitoring vehicles violating speed limit.

Earlier, on March 16, 2025, Motorway police registered first information reports (FIRs) against 54 drivers for violating the speed limit of 150 kilometres on M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5, and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway.

Spokesman of Motorway Police Syed Imran Ahmad said that police registered started action against drivers who were violating traffic rules to ensure the safety of passengers.
