Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Tuesday said that Italian government would enlist the help of 60,000 volunteers for social distance implementation along the coast.
He said in a tweet, “The world is following Prime Minister Imran Khan's strategy of easing the lockdown to save the people from starvation and enforcing the SOPs through the Corona Relief Tigers Force.”
Usman Dar shared the article of The Daily Beast that Italian authorities plan to recruit and deploy 60,000 volunteers to patrol the bars and beaches to help keep people socially distanced.
“It’s part of an effort to mitigate a second wave of COVID-19. Italy—one the first epicenters of the coronavirus pandemic—has seen its daily number of new cases and COVID-related deaths drop dramatically after two months of a draconian lockdown, but photos of people partying over the weekend after the country partially unlocked sparked concern that the population could be celebrating too soon.”
The country of 60 million has reported more than 230,000 confirmed cases and nearly 33,000 deaths.
Te newspaper citing the Wall Street Journal report said that travel between Italian regions is still restricted but expected to be lifted on June 3 if the number of new cases doesn’t spike.
The unpaid “civic assistants” will wear blue vests and remind people to social distance and keep their faces covered. They can flag any misbehavior to the police, but they have no jurisdiction to arrest or fine anyone.
It is pertinent to note that Prime Minister’s Corona Relief Tiger Force on May 20 decided to place 154,000 members of the Tiger Force in Sindh under his party leader and provincial Governor Imran Ismail while in other parts of the country the Force has started working in relief activities.
As per the PM Advisor Usman Dar, currently 115,000 volunteers of the Tiger Force including around 93,000 in Punjab, 19,000 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1,500 in Balochistan were involved in relief activities in the respective provinces.
