MQM Pakistan chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has claimed that MQM supported Benazir Bhutto to become the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a gathering held on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrs of the Pakka Fort tragedy at Fort Ground, Hyderabad, the chief said that MQM voted for Benazir Bhutto to become the Prime Minister despite the apprehensions, adding that, “we have sacrificed our lot, now it is someone else's turn”.

Siddiqui said that “when the great nations move forward, they remember who made sacrifices the most which lead the nation to the destination”.

The chairman said that “MQM-P has done its job to establish the brotherhood in Sindh”. He said MQM opponents always promoted hatred over the years.

Siddiqui claimed that Karachi provides 97 percent of Sindh's revenue, but the PPP spends a mere 10 percent on Karachi. He said in such an unjustified distribution of funds, it was becoming difficult to move together.

He said that on December 27, Karachi and Hyderabad were targeted for the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto.

He claimed that the situation of urban and rural areas of Sindh was different and today, the gulf is widening day by day.

He further said that those who follow the policy of partition fear that the MQM may not end this division.

Siddiqui said that on September 30, Urdu-speaking people were martyred in this city but justice has not been given to the victim to date which puts a question mark on the judicial system of the country.
