PML-N President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Raja Sikandar and demanded action the people involved in Daska by-poll rigging, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The PML-N president demanded the CEC to take legal action against the officials involved in committing rigging.

Shehbaz Sharif urged the CEC to introduce reforms in the ECP Act and Rules to stop such practices in the future in consultation with the political parties.

The PML-N president wrote the letter to CEC on November 23.

He also demanded action against federal and provincial ministers for “illegal directives for rigging” in Daska by-poll.

The PML-N leader urged the ECP to conduct further probe into the matter and penalize the people involved in “stealing” the by-poll.

“Complaints must be launched against officials deployed for Daska by-poll duty as per the ECP Act Section 191 and the ECP Act Sections 184,186 and 187,” the letter reads.

“Action should be taken against the persons involved under section 190 as per section 167, sections 175, 174 and 183.”

Two fact-finding reports on NA-75 Sialkot-V (Daska) by-elections have been released.

Shehbaz said that Sialkot DC and DPO were involved in misconduct and turned the results in favour of the government.

As per fact-finding report, Punjab CM advisor and one official from CM Secretariat met with officials at an official residence and even a DSP breached the security plan of the by-poll.

However, the PML-N president commended the ECP's suspension orders of Daska DC and DPO.
