In a bid to combat smog-related challenges, Mall Road Lahore will be closed to all types of traffic on Sunday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Punjab government on Saturday.
The move is aimed at promoting sustainable and eco-friendly modes of transportation.
Starting this Sunday and continuing each week, Mall Road (Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam) will be exclusively accessible to cyclists and pedestrians.
The restriction is designed to encourage the use of alternative modes of commuting and alleviate the traffic congestion that plagues urban areas.
Capt (R) Mustansar Feroze, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, advised citizens to avoid traveling on Mall Road during the specified closure period to minimize urban inconvenience.
The decision is part of the Punjab government's proactive approach to addressing smog-related concerns in the region.
To further enhance air quality and promote a healthier environment, the government encourages citizens to opt for cycling or walking along Mall Road on Sundays.
This weekly closure is an innovative step to not only improve traffic conditions but also to raise awareness about the environmental impact of conventional transportation methods.
