The Islamabad High Court disposed of an application on the future of the capital cricket grounds letting the upcoming local government decide whether to give the grounds to private firms or not, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Petitioner Sardar Mehtab appeared in court along with his lawyer Adil Aziz Qazi. During the hearing, the deputy commissioner presented a report and told the court that the local body elections of the federal capital have been scheduled to be held on December 24 and till then the matter should be halted.
Adil Aziz Qazi Advocate said citizens have to pay to play cricket and the administrator does not have the authority to outsource the grounds.
After the arguments of the parties were completed, the court said that the local elections of the federal capital have been announced and the newly elected representatives will decide whether to give the ground to private companies or not.
