Pakistan Ain Tahafuzz Movement leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that constitutional amendments are never made behind the closed doors with conspiracies, it is necessary to create large scale consensus for it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to media in Quetta, Achakzai said the constitution is not a piece of paper it is a sacred document. He demanded that constitutional amendments should be made with consensus in the national and public interests. Referring to Imran Khan, he said, keeping a popular leader in jail will add to the problems.
He said Maulana Fazl is a senior politician if he admitted the proposed amendments in current form he will get political damage to his fame. Achakzai said the way general elections and governments came into being in the country is a laughing stock.
He claimed that over 3 crore people live below the poverty line in the country if a government cannot provide bread to the people it has no right to rule the masses. Achakzai claimed that the solution of the problems is possible with the supremacy of the constitution, democracy and the supremacy of the law. He demanded that all political parties should decide the principles together. He said people should have the right to elect public representatives. He said the parliamentary committee headed by Ayaz Sadiq can also decide on electoral reforms.
