The federal government has set cotton production target for the year 2024-25, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to Chairman of the Cotton Genres Forum Ihsan-ul-Haq the federal government has set a production target of 10.8 million bales of cotton for the year 2024-25.

Chairman of the Cotton Forum said that last year, this target of 12.27 million bales was allocated.

Last fiscal year, cotton production was about 10 million bales, said the Chairman of the Cotton Forum.

The federal government has not yet decided even the support price for cotton, said the chairman.

A wave of concern is being seen among the farmers due to non-allocation of support price, he added.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, cotton cultivation is being affected a lot across the country, Ihsan-ul-Haq said.
