An accountability court adjourned the hearing into money laundering case against the Sharif family till September 10 as the judge assured PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif of justice, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
However, the court postponed the hearing of a plea filed against the freezing of Sharif family’s assets till September 21 but issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Suleman Shehbaz who is currently in the UK.
Meanwhile, arrest warrants were also issued for Ali Ahmed Khan and Haroon Yousaf Aziz – the two sons-in-law of Shehbaz – as well as Tahir Naqvi while his wife Nusrat Shehbaz and daughters were also again directed through notices to appear before the court.
Earlier, Shehbaz appeared before the court and told the judge that no corruption had been proved against him or his family members. The allegation of money laundering was baseless and he, in fact, had saved billions of rupees in different projects, he added.
To this, the judge replied that he would get justice and acquitted if found not guilty.
Later, the PML-N president was allowed to leave the courtroom while the hearing was still in progress.
Separately, Shehbaz told media persons in an informal chat that the government was doing politics on the health of Nawaz Sharif – the party supremo.
On the other hand, the same accountability court also held the hearing of Ramzan Sugar Mills reference in which the PML-N president is accused of causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer by constructing a drain.
His son Hamza Shehbaz, who is also nominated in the reference, was presented before the court.
Earlier this month, the accountability court had framed charges against Shahbaz Hamza Shahbaz, in the Ramzan Sugar Mills supplementary reference. They had been indicted in the main reference on April 9, 2019.
