Over 40 goats were killed in Choa Saidan Shah in Chakwal while two women died in separate rain-related incidents in Matyari, Sindh as heavy monsoon rains lashed different parts of the country, including Karachi, on Tuesday, not only inundating low-lying areas but also main roads, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
It rained cats and dogs in Karachi, which left roads under several feet of sewage-mixed water.
The situation was pathetic on MA Jinnah and other roads where motorcycles and cars stopped due to which the journeys which normally took minutes to complete now took hours.
As per the statistics updated at 8:00 in the morning, Quaidabad locality of the city received the highest amount of rainfall, totaling 52 millimeters followed by Gulshan-e-Hadeed where 46 millimeters of rain was recorded.
It was followed by North Karachi where 29.8 millimeters of rain was recorded.
Likewise, Nazimabad, Surjani Town, Sharai Faisal, Keamari, University Road, Korangi, Saddar, Old Airport, Gulshan-e-Memar, Jinnah Terminal, Bin Qasim, DHA, Orangi Town and Maripur received 26, 25.4, 16, 16, 15.6, 14.6, 13, 12.6, 12.4, 11.2, 11, 11, seven and four millimeters of rain, respectively.
Heavy rains were also reported from Islamabad, several cities of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Gujranwala and Kalar Syedan.
More rains forecast
On the other hand, the weather department said that different parts of the country would continue to receive rain during the next three to four days.
The department also said there were fears that weak structures might crumble, especially in Sindh, due to strong winds accompanying these rains.
